Wisconsin Child Support Enforcement Association

The mission of the WCSEA is to provide training and networking to help local child support agencies best serve and aid the children and families of Wisconsin.

Administrative Paternity establishment is now permitted under Wisconsin law

WCSEA members have been working with state officials to get this legislation passed for about 10 years. On February 5, 2020, Governor Tony Evers signed SB 158 into law as Act 95.

The new law creates an administrative paternity option that puts into place safety mechanisms that protect the best interest of the child, while allowing fathers to go through

genetic testing to opt out of having to establish paternity through a court hearing. This change speeds up the paternity process, while easing strain on the court system.
